Obviously I've never met the kid, but the small clips of him i've seen, coupled with the reporting around him, make me think that he might not be the sharpest tool in the box. Hence his inability to see that he might be a genius with the ball, but that is unlikely to be enough to "make it" (c.f. Ravel Morrison). If he sorts his head and applies himself, sounds like the sky is the limit for him. If. No doubt its taking him a while to realise this. I suppose if he had this cracked already, he wouldnt have left on loan in the first place.
Contrast that with James Maddison, who seems wise beyond his years. Amazing attitude, full application and dedication to all aspects of his game. The spurs lad might well be the most "gifted" of the two (maybe not as Maddison is also supremely talented), but at the moment Madds is core to the team, Edwards can't get on the bench.
