For the EU to do it, Britain would have to pay through the arse for Brexit

Why ever would the EU show such solidarity with Britain??!! More to the point, why would Brexit Britain want the EU to pull out as a whole? I mean, Britain doesn't need them right? They are powerful in their own right. Right?
