largely yet to be proved. I loved it when we unearthed jewels from lower clubs in the past and I go right back to Paddon, Silvester, Cross, Bone etc. Holt was one of our best signings ever. I agree it’s good to see that sort of strategy being attempted again as opposed to signing the Naismiths and van Wolfswinkels of this world.
I like the idea of making the Academy more productive, though again the fact that it has taken so long smacks of past negligence.
Webber still has an awful lot to prove. His claim that Farke is ‘the best coach in the Championship’ looks a bit like bravado at this stage.
As I suggested before, though, whether this new regime is the right way to go will only be discovered with time. It might succeed, it might not. Sticking with Irvine might have been a success. Getting new investment might have been the right thing for the owners to do.
It’s not an exact science , is it?
