they are a pain in the arse (though speaking to my Irish relatives - what did a change

over for all their signs from mies to km, they soon got used to it and think nothing of it now)

it's certain measurement types for certain things for me

a person's height always has to be in feet and inches, anything taller than 3 metres has to be in metres

short lengths or depths mostly has to be in centimetres - even if less than 3 metres, but distances have to be in miles

weight of people usually has to be in stones, though i can never easily recall how many pounds to a stone and i only know my own weight in kg

weight of anything else has to be in kg

temperature is always in celcius

beer is pints - unless it's a bottle or can
