Can't agree Steve. Most certainly was a massive con that cost

a fortune. I was involved in it and it was the proverbial storm in a tea cup which made the big IT and Audit companies big money. If it was the big disaster aversion that you say then there would, somewhere, have been something missed and therefore a number of serious issues but there just wasn't because fail safe software wasn't date affected. It certainly mat have prevented people getting paid had it not been resolved but not some of the doomsday scenarios suggested.
