He's never going to walk into a starting place at a top club, and a top club is surely where he's going to end up. Another season with a whole team more or less shaped around him would both develop him and showcase him and I could see the temptation.

I could also see the temptation of the kind of wages Liverpool et al would pay him.

The thing he absolutely mustn't do is the Lambert Option of going for the first bigger pay packet he sees but at a club which may be bigger than us, but not bigger enough. That would suit neither him nor us long term.
