I think he just had a couple of excellent seasons

and has returned to the mean since.

He was pretty ropey for much of the first season we had him iirc. It was telling when the England GK coach we had left for Southampton to work with Forster and Ruddy was never seen in the England squad again - obviously didn't rate him too highly.
