As for us? We're not going to make the playoffs. A team with just 34 goals isn't going to miraculously explode out of nowhere. But we are building a really encouraging platform. It isn't about this season; it's about next season.

When we were successful earlier in the decade, at no point where we ever technically good enough to prosper, which was why Hughton and Neil both had to go so defensive at the higher level. We're building things in completely the right way now. Still got plenty of pieces to add - but with the money we'll get for Maddison, we can do that.

Farke's the right man and I'm increasingly excited about this team's potential. And best of all: this is just the start. Onwards and, steadily, bit by precious bit, upwards.
