Its clear that long term its going to be a struggle and

we are going to have to perform extremely well in the transfer market and with the acedemy/bringing through our own players to be competitive with the turnover we will have and no benefactor.

budget wise we will be about on a par with the sc*m within a couple of years provided our crowds hold up because we have a turnover that is £6m or £7m higher t han theirs but Evans effecrively bankrolls them to that tune each season but allowing their debt to him to build up.

So we are going to have to do things better/smarter than most other clubs to out perform them.

That said Maddison's rise perhaps brings us a little bit of respite because if he goes for the sort of money he should do then that won;t be far off the equivalent of a further season of parachute payments. lewis and Godfrey will rpobably be worth big bucks within a year or two as well and we are going to have to make one of those types of sales every year or two to bolster the budget.
