after all, we seem to have very rapidly forgotten inaction in Rwanda and Darfur, leaving the Somalis to it in '91, never really even bothering to think about (let alone care about) what's been going on in the Congo, and turning a blind eye to Myanmar even now.

There are too many defining tragedies - and that in itself is perhaps the defining tragedy of our time.

Despite all of the 'Let's learn from the holocaust' history lessons we have all been through, we haven't. We (as a population) simply don't give enough of a s**t and so our politicians don't.
