he's generally been poor this season (well, perhaps not poor, but certainly not indispensable like in the past). But there's a chance that could be the result of having played through the summer last year, starting pre season late and never quite getting up to speed.
In which case next year, with a break over the summer and a decent pre season, he could be back to his best. It's not like he relies on pace of physicality to get by.
I think with Maddison most likely off, we should keep him for another year; not out of sentimentality, but because he might not be finished yet.
