No way. Football is a winter sport and we invented it.

The big clubs will just f**k off to Thailand or The Gulf, even as far as Australia to play lucrative friendly fixtures, so isn't really a break for them.

Then you have the problem that the games missed still have to be played at some point. meaning more midweek fixtures and congestion for those in the later stages of European competition or even The FA Cup.

The only alternative to this is to reduce the size of the leagues.
