No. Globalisation makes demands of the economics, not the legal position.

UKIP which you used above want a European Free Trade Area. Independence politically to set domestic, foreign and economic policy without having to cede to rules set to suit Europe as a whole. Europe as a whole is too diverse to obey a single set of policies.

That is what has been rejected. Europe should co-operate where it suits but nations should be free to act independently where it does not.
