as they will all just zoom past you at silly speeds. F1 is one of the few things I think it must actually be better to watch on the telly than live.

Another would be the Tour de France. One year completely by accident Old Woman and myself were in a hotel in Evian (where the water comes from) and discovered the TdF was due to come past. We duly camped by the window, bottle of frankly disappointing local plonque in hand and the early hour be damned. About four hours' worth of buildup, most of which was open-top cars with the kind of open-top displays of female sexuality most sports are hurriedly banning these days. Then finally came the riders. Maybe forty seconds of whoosh past us and that was it.
