It's the sort of policy that'll get my vote

Not because I think it's the best way of addressing the issue, or even a particularly sensible one, but at least it's trying to address it.

Better to try and fail than to fail to try.

The reality of government and consultations and civil service advice will water down the most bonkers elements anyway.
