His man management looks really solid.
In answer to your point, if they were all singing his praises that wouldn't say he was a great man manager, just that he'd made a good first impression. Different things.
The key in in this stuff is that he has and maintains high standards and is clear with what he wants.
Intriguingly, the departing disgruntled, when you read their exit interviews seem to be suggesting just this.
So from our limited external viewpoint, I would say he seems to be doing this stuff right.
We'll never really know (and only find out if he was bad after he's gone).
Considering the vast churn of the last six months, holding stuff together and not having outright mutiny is a win.
But my expectations of this season were a lot lower (or more realistic) than much of what I read on here.
