Not sure whether I'm in favour of footballers announcing they are gay

It shouldn't make any difference in any walk of life who you are or what you are and I don't see the need in promoting it as surely by promoting it, its giving an impression that its a big deal, when it really shouldn't be made into one.

The promoting and emphasis on footballers 'coming out' to me, just seems to put that person under pressure to having to announce it and rightfully its the individuals choice. The guy says his family and friends know but not his team mates. He may have preferred that to be the case but with the promoting of footballers 'coming out' he felt the need to do so? If someone at work announced they were gay, i'd be like - ok, you didn't really need to tell me and hope you didn't feel like you had to.

That's my take on it anyway.
