I know football really is trivial compared to the intermittent tragedies that fate inflicts, but yet...
Way back when football was what my Dad and I did. Wind on 30 years and it's what I, and my Dad and my son did. About 18 months before he died Camcan, my son and I had to abort a trip to West Brom because we were told he was dying. For most of the journey City were one up and it became more and more important that City hang on, and that he hang on. And City got the second goal. And he was totally unresponsive when we arrived but I told him City won and he squeezed my hand. And we had him for another 18 months.
Even now what I miss the most is texting him from the match, and calling him after the game.
And, as you well know, I met my wife through football through NCFC, and this message board in particular.
So football doesn't count for diddly... except when it does.
The loss you describe is unbearable. I know you'll be there for them.
