Not that I am against VAR; we live in the age of technology. Without it most of us wouldn't be 'seeing' the big games in the first place. It's interesting that we have such faith in it though - after all, what we see on replay is not what actually happened but a technological reproduction of electronically recorded images. But then its not so different from 'actually seeing' since there are no pictures inside our brains - just electronic impulses which we interpret. No two people see the same thing since no two people can have precisely the same point of vision. Also, the 'reality' of what happens in a football incident takes place in three spatial dimensions and VAR images are two-dimensional only. So ultimately it will come down to some version of Rule 5 which is a philosophical assertion: 'The referee is the sole arbiter of fact."
