Seems pretty clear to me that this has been the plan

Make the most Tettey's final year, in particular as he has shown how effective he is at this level. If Godfrey had stayed he would have been stand in behind Trybull and Tetts. Possibly some questions over whether he was ready even for that. So let Godfrey go out on loan somewhere where he'll have to get used to being the main man, will play every game for which he's fit, toughen him up. Tettey rides off in the summer, Godfrey comes in ready made to replace him. Get in a prem loan to provide the cover, probably at modest cost.

To be honest, its a pretty decent plan. What has probably made it look less sensible is that Godfrey seems to have really kicked on. (Would he have done that getting scraps of game time early in the season?)

Having said that, I might well have kept him for a few weeks of Jan to cover injuries and see how things pan out. At the moment, sure looks like we need the bodies on the bus.
