Obviously there's an element of a gamble about it

But it also gives us the potential to get players of a quality we couldn't afford to buy permanently (think Pritchard at Brentford or Tammy Abraham at Bristol City last season). We're 13th so a gamble is probably a better bet than playing it safe at this point.
