I agree that we can match these teams regularly

but they can also beat the 'lesser' teams consistently, which we can't do. All of our centre backs are better playing deep and soaking up pressure than defending against counter attacks. And our attacking players mostly don't have the quality or move the ball quickly enough to break down a compact defence.

You need to be able to mix it with the top teams AND win a lot against the rest to get promoted, Bristol City, Cardiff and Derby can do both, we can't.
