if not, then there's plenty of bars/restaurants around Millennium Square and you can take him into the @Bristol (science museum) which has plenty to do.

Fair walk to Ashton Gate but you could get the water taxi down to Cumberland Basin at the other end of the harbour (passing the SS Gt Britain, Matthew and a few other odd boats) and nip across from there.
