I think teachers in Aus or NZ can ask to take a sabbatical once they've been teaching for

a certain number of years. Their job will be waiting for them when they get back. It's always struck me as a really great idea. There have been plenty of times when I'd have benefited from taking a break but knowing I didn't have to give up everything.
