We're not in debt like we were back then.
If we can get our wage bill down to a sustainable level, we won't need to plug the gap by selling players, or at least not to such an extreme degree.
I'm sure we're way over our wage budget at the moment, but if Jerome, Martin and Naismith were to all leave this window, as well as Pritchard (who must be on big bucks given we offered him a chunk more than Brighton did, and they're hardly paupers), we must be making strides in the right direction. Especially if we already had enough of cash from selling Murphy to see us through this year.
It's all a bit pie in the sky, I don't think we're at Doomy levels just yet though.
