RE The NHS................. .................... .................... ......

The UK spends less money per head on its health service than a number of other similar countries. The Tories are not willing to spend as much on the NHS as other countries do. It is a political choice.

Top Tories pay to go private. They say they are paying twice and resent paying income tax towards the NHS for a service they say they don't need.

The Tories also receive political funding from private health companies and insurance companies, and Tories have investments in those companies.

The NHS had improved massively under Labour, so much so that private health companies were struggling to stay in business.

Private companies want to take a bigger chuck of the NHS to grow their businesses and make money from it for their shareholders.

The longer the NHS waiting-lists etc. the greater the number of people will pay to go private, and take out private health insurance policies.

The Tories would like the NHS to become an insurance based scheme (like in the USA). Prior to becoming the Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt co-authored a policy pamphlet authored by a group of Tory MPs that called for the NHS to be replaced by an insurance system.

A lot of the media make money from adversing private health and insurance companies, and a lot of companies have pension schemes invested in health and insurance companies. Some media companies look to promote anti-NHS stories to help boost private health and insurance companies etc.
