They've got a site there which is probably expensive to run and worth millions if redeveloped.
They've got a cheaper site in Burton they can shift production to.
Whenever these companies are sold to national companies or even global companies then the writing is on the wall unless your location is the cheapest place to produce the product.
Not everything about globalisation is good although some would say its just the economy adjusting to a new era.
It won't help those who lose their jobs but i hope that the council at least ensures that if the site is redeveloped the heritage of the site and the product is recognised and preserved in some way through design/heritage centre etc. Is there still a museum there/in the city? i should know the answer to that but i don't.
