Not really is it

I wasn;t encouraged at the signing of Middlesboros 3rd choice left back and then said he looked ropey in pre-season (which he did). Said left back has not proven so far to be particularly good and has had a number of poor games. I didn't "wrote him off" and in fairness I praised him for his improvement during one of the games in our unbeaten run and can see he could perhaps do a job as a squad player when 100% fit.

With Lewis I simply said i thought he looked promising during pre-season (which he did) and funnily enough now he's come into the team everyone seems to be pretty unanimous that he is promising and looks good.

so i'm not quite sure what point you are trying to make?
