What would actually happen is that the interest would not be paid and would compound therefore hugely increase the debt over time. The investors would realise their investment by having the loan repaid as part of any takeover.

But in reality, football clubs are not a good investment. They are a rich man's play thing. Delia clearly isn't totally wrong that having any tom dick or Harry take over wouldn't necessarily be a good thing, but football is always about hope and most fans would prefer the hope of something amazing even if rationally what they've got might be a better.
