I listened to both sides of the debate today and the article is a bit disingenuous

The spikes have been up since 2014, nobody has complained until now. The residents have complained about the pigeon s**t literally smothering their car windows and paths and the inherent health hazards to the landlords. The landlords have tried bird scarers, birds of prey recordings, even hanging reflective CDs to deter the pigeons away.

There is a large tree filled park nearby populated by thousands of trees.

The spikes are only on branches above the pathway and car parking spaces.

It is an affluent area and the apartments are top dollar and the occupants do have by and large "luxury" motors.

I think some local dialogue is in order rather than reaching for the pitchforks and cudgels. maybe get the residents to contribute to some wildlife beneficial scheme? maybe.
