I must say I’m in agreement with Jim on this.
The whole reason for creating women only events is because in open competition women would get nowhere. If you just had one event open to both sexes, it would be all men. Athletics, tennis, golf, boxing, football, hockey, squash, rugby - whatever it is, men are better at it than women. So they don’t compete against each other because it would be pointless.
The result is that women’s sport is a whole separate category of sport, which could be labelled “sport for one type of people who are not as good at sport as another type of people”.
So it’s a bit like watching U21 teams or England Lions or Saxons, for me. It’s ok, but it’s not the real thing
