First, Worthy did a pretty good job for 3 and a half seasons: play off final and ultimately promotion as run-away champions. The Premier season was a massive disappointment - Worthy made several personell (eg. persisting with Holt for far too long; mis-managing Helveg, Stuart) and tactical errors (eg. the diamond) and we really should have stayed up. Still, in my opinion, we'd half expected it from the beginning anyway and, older and wiser, he'd earnt the right to have another crack. However, it was apparent almost from the beginning that we were going to struggle and, a few games apart, we've haven't really played well at all this season: hoofball, disorganisation, player unhappiness, poor signings, etc. For whatever reason, it's clear that we just cannot get it right any more - we've tried several things this season and still nothing works consistently. Worthy and his team are ultimately responsible - they sign, train & motivate the players and devise the tactics. It happens: things go stale and the only remedy is to change the management. That doesn't always work, it's true, but it's almost unheard of for a long time failing manager to turn things around.

Worthy out now; caretaker (Williams?) in; search for young(ish) up & coming, intelligent manager (or O'Niell) as soon as possible who has time to assess and prepare the squad for next season.
