it probably is a confidence issue

but the issue is that the defenders aren't confident that the midfield is going to keep the ball or successfully pass it on.
Perhaps if we had more than one midfielder who can pass the ball well, maybe things wouldn't be so bad.
Christ, the way things are Mulryne would better in place of either of at least two of our central midfielders.
