This season has been a disaster - there's no question of that. And I agree that the wishy washy question and answer sessions are well managed to diffuse the situation and give the fans confidence. I emailed Neil Doncaster a few weeks back criticising the club of a poor transfer strategy. At the time his response won me over, maybe too easily, because on reflection, it was full of the right sound bites. But it did seem to be at divergence to what I observed actually happening in the real world.
However, I think the whole confidence of the players is shot at the moment. Hence the rashness of getting rid of the ball at the first opportunity (leading to a long ball), lack of width as an outlet ball, and underperfoming players (Huckerby) who end up as being passengers far too often at times. Things need to be sorted. But Worthington's record has been good. He just needs to remember what worked before and go back to it. That means keeping it simple. 4-4-2. Solid and hard to beat. Top 10 finish in this league every time.
