He had the luxary of having several Premiership players in our squad when he was in charge. We were definitely top 6 without a doubt in my opinion that season. Jon Newsome was playing particularly well back then, and I even went so far at the time as to prophesise that he could be a future England player. Sadly he ruined his knee after an ill judged move to Sheffield Wednesday when the bankers came calling.
We had a quality team, with Mark Bowen, Neil Adams, Jon Newsome, Eadie, Fleck, Ward, Polston, Johnson, Goss, an emerging Danny Mills.
Worthington arguably has 1 maybe 2 Premiership players in his squad. I accept he screwed up in the summer - but he had no money to spend at all it would seem. However, he has made mistakes (right hand side negligence, over reliance on an under performing/growing liability Darren Huckerby). However, he brought success before from a base that we find ourselves in. Can he not do it again?
