It's a viscious circle, players respond to the crowd and can lift them to perform better. The crowd respond to the players, thus if a couple of players start taking the game by the scruff of the neck, the crowd will be raised, and the rest of the team will be lifted. You can't attack from one point of view - both are vital factors.
What we lack is leaders on the pitch. A player who will say - I will take responsibility, and start to take the game to the opposition by himself - lifting the crowd and the rest of the team.
