Unless you have fantastic ball-winning midfielders...

you should never play 4-3-3 anywhere, because it means you will nearly always be outnumbered in midfield, which makes it pretty much impossible to pass teh ball through that area. 4-3-3 is a long ball formation (a la Wimbledon of the old days) for teams that bypass midfield. And if you want to be one of thos eteams you shouldn't pack your team with the likes of McVeigh, Earnie & Hucks who won't win any headers.
