One problem with us signing a right winger

Is that it would greatly reduce our ability to fit Huckerby into the team. The sacrifice for having him in the team is that we are forced into 4-3-3, particularly now we've signed a massively expensive midget to fill one of the slots up front. Earnshaw and Huckerby up front, anyone? The aerial threat would be staggering!

You could argue that Hucks' play so far this season hasn't fully justified the sacrifice in midfield. Leaving aside other factors, a 3-man midfield is certainly one reason Jurgen Colin is having a torrid time at right back, and why we're pretty easily dominated in the middle of the park. As a centre-forward, I'm of the opinion that if you don't win the battle in the middle of the park, you generally won't win the match. We simply don't have the personnel to play 4-3-3; Tuesday night being a perfect example.

Slot two proper wingers in there, and it's a different proposition. Push in tight when defending, and we can match almost any team for numbers at least, then it comes down to individual battles. At the moment, the opposition always have a man over, and can simply pass around us. I also think this contributes to confusion over who is marking who.
