We got burned by the Lambert/Hughton era crossover from signing

Championship and lower league players desperate for a crack at the big time, but playing at their absolute peak (Ward, Elliot Bennett, agueably Ruddy) and the so-called Prem experience next tier of players (Bassong, Turner)

Trouble is, those players just aint all that over sustained periods of time, and their contracts are too expensive/reps too tarnished for fellow championship s**tmunchers to want them.

Its not the players fault exactly. Just a perfect storm of s**t.
