Congratulations!

I would like to share the advice from Old Man on the birth of my daughter in April... The clothes, buggy and pics especially! :

"There is a reason oppressive regimes use sleep deprivation as a form of torture as you are about to find out. And the next phase of your life will largely revolve around poo.

Enjoy these first weeks, take lots of pics as she will change very fast.

Ignore all the parenting advice you get from everyone. You're built to be good at this and so is your missus. Take decisions which are right for you and not what you think anyone expects. When you f**k up, which you will, forgive yourself and move on. I wasn't good at this first time around.

Ignore all the ads trying to turn you into a kit monster parent. You need a car seat, nappies and change kit, and clothes. That's about all if you're breastfeeding; obvs you need kit if you're bottle feeding. Don't go overboard on newborn clothes either, she will grow out of them in a very few weeks. If you're getting a buggy, lightweight is much more practical than bells-and-whistles, but go with whatever you feel. You don't need a buggy if you don't want one.

If she smiles at you, it means she's got wind. Smiling for other reasons comes later."
