Personal experience:- first generation to go to Uni

With all my friends too. We also received a free education at Uni and didn't have to pay 30 grand for it.

Its difficult to identify an article today as the Sutton Trust has swamped the media with the articles you are referring too saying mobility is bunk based on free school meals figures. Regurgitated by Guardian, Times etc.
Free school meals wasn't something I recall in my days so the numbers can't be challenged plus they are basing it on the very few (160?) Grammars left which by definition are largely in well to do areas. So 3% free school meals in schools already in expensive catchment areas proves the point eh?

Statistics and damned statistics. Don't believe every article you read. The media today is flooded with duplication of this one article. There is also a LOT of people who dare not say anything against popular opinion. It feels just like Brexit. Oh hang on have we stopped talking about Brexit, wonder why?

However please furnish me with the Comprehensive is a success for mobility articles and I think you will see my point. It doesn't exist either.

There is an agenda being ground out today and the ones suffering are the really bright kids who cant afford to go to private school and the ones who would benefit from an apprenticeship at 14 but cant get one because they were phased out at the same time as Grammar/Secondary Mods.
