God help us. Far more people got to University from lower class homes when Grammar schools existed compared to the bog standard comprehensives we have today. Middle classes can pay for better education anyway. Today's comps don't work and standards have declined relative to the rest of the world who aren't hung up on selection.

All politicians are liars anyway. Labour gave us loads of private funded schools and hospitals with massive debts to boot. So you are playing with words to be honest. Are you saying that was a better way? Private is not necessarily bad nor is state owned. Claiming either is the best way forward is the mistake. Arguments against both.
