I'm planning to watch the first England qualifier. I shall start by being bored and

indifferent. They've let me down too many times. I shall not let them hurt me anymore. I shall then become distracted by how socks look.

But slowly, over the course of the campaign, as we win every blimmin match and cruise through the group, I shall start thinking This time it's different. This time we actually stand a chance of winning the World Cup (well at least getting out of the group) and I shall watch with anticipation...

Until we demonstrate how rubbish we actually are in the finals and we get knocked out.

then the whole process will start again.
