why employ a CEO then if the chairman needs to be there 24/7 nannying the club?

the chairman is there to ensure governance to keep the club on the straight and narrow and to ensure that it doesn't breach company law or drop itself in the s**t a la sunderland fc style User Posted Link there will be policies in place concerning the acceptable practies and procedures that surround the acquisition of staff just like any other half decent company in the world. it doesn't need the chairman there at all unless there is a situation that is outside of the usual procedural norm. in which case i am pretty sure they could i dunno, ring ed balls up and run it by him you know see maybe if an emergency board meeting was needed to employ a new member of staff? that sort of unusual thing that sometimes happens in a transer window. nobody gave a s**t about bowketts activities during a transfer window before, just because ed balls is high profile there really is no need to wet your drawers over the situation.
