it used do be common here (have one yourself?) but seems to have died out

My brother in law's parents ran a Watneys pub until the mid-70s. The kept a crate of Straight 8 (a bottled beer). Stephen was pretty much the only person who drank it and would have one on the go in an evening and as people tipped him with a drink during the evening would put them behind the bar and cash then in at the end of his shift.
