We’d been out for several Friday night beers. When this happened I was walking back home, having said goodbye at the bus stop.
Was years ago maybe mid 80’s. Police car saw this villainy and arrested him for criminal damage; a bit OTT and he was driven back to local police station. Eventually he persuaded them this he was innocent of damage and was released, but not before he had thanked them for the lift home as he lived only a minute’s walk from the police station. They were none-too impressed with this but as he was innocent he walked off laughing at them.
The next evening we were out for some Saturday beers and both again a bit the worse for wear and my pal upon getting home realised that he had gone out without his key and his parents were away for the night. He knew a way into the house via an unlocked window and climbed up onto the roof of the garage and was letting himself in when the police sirens sounded and he was apprehended by the local police once again. The defence that it was his own house was ignored; he was arrested and taken to the police station to be greeted by the same policeman who had arrested him on Friday night. But at least they knew who he was and he was allowed to go home to break into his house again.
