then why say you are at a quandry and write it all out

if it was just a quarter of a mile walk you shouldn't have offered the lift in the first place. now you have, you should be big enough to go with what you said and deal with it. this bloke seems a t**t but you'd be a bigger t**t to pull out of the offer.
