sometimes its a more base level than them just being idiots word.

I worked with Yanks for 18 years and a lot of gi's would vote republican purely to keep their jobs as they saw them as a safer bet than the democrats. Saying that the station I worked at ran at minimum manning level of 21 on duty in 95 now they are under 10 some days and the base is closing in 2019/20 with approx 5000 brit/gi jobs going. The us military is getting slashed as like most things it cannot afford to run at current levels.
