They obviously decided to take a punt on Rhodes to get them over the line.

Looks to me as if they are simply employing a different strategy of actually spending a decent proportion of the tv money up front in order to maximise chances of staying up whereas us and Burnley followed a more prudent model.

Boris is maybe more of a risk but it's not that much of a risk if you sign decent players.
