Good luck to Ed Balls on Strictly

I've never watched it - ballroom dancing not my thing - but I don't see why he shouldn't do it if he fancies it.

His role as Chairman of the club is to

- convene and run board meetings
- lead board appraisals and the processes around remuneration, succession planning, audit and so on
- ensure the Board has the right access to the business to oversee strategy and objective-setting, and that it performs that task effectively and appropriately
- oversee governance in general
- lead on shareholder relations
- hire, appraise, fire if needs be, the CEO
- etc

Not sure how him doing the cha-cha-cha on a weekend is going to impact on any of that, and he'll only miss a few games to do it. I hope he wins it, though he probably won't.
